Account Information (Optional):

When you sign in with Google, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. You can use the app without signing in; all features work offline with local storage.

Warranty Information:

• Product name, brand, and owner name
• Purchase date, price, and retailer name
• Warranty duration and expiration dates
• Serial numbers
• Custom notes
• Photos of warranty documents and receipts

Vehicle Service Information:

• Vehicle owner name, brand, model, and year of manufacture
• Registration number, engine number, and chassis number
• Service history including dates, odometer readings, service center details
• Service center contact information and service costs
• Service notes and next service dates

Event Information:

• Event name (e.g., birthdays, anniversaries, meetings)
• Event date
• Event description and notes
• Event images from your device gallery
• Recurring event preferences (yearly repeat option)

Documents and Images:

• Photos captured via camera or selected from your device gallery
• Scanned warranty documents and receipts
• Text extracted from images using on-device OCR technology (Google ML Kit)

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device Information:

• Device type and model information
• Operating system version
• Unique device identifiers (for push notifications only)

Notification Tokens:

We collect notification tokens to send you warranty expiration, service reminder, and event reminder notifications locally on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide Core Functionality: Store and manage your warranty records, vehicle service records, and event reminders
• Send Reminders: Deliver local notifications for upcoming warranty expirations and vehicle service dates (1, 7, 15, 20, 30 days before), and event reminders (5, 4, 3, 2, 1 days before)
• Cloud Backup: Enable optional backup and restore of your data to your personal Google Drive
• Document Scanning: Process images locally using on-device OCR (Google ML Kit) to extract warranty information
• Authentication: Verify your identity when using Google Sign-In for cloud features

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Storage

• Primary Storage: All your warranty, vehicle, and event data is stored locally on your device using secure AsyncStorage
• Documents: Images and documents are stored in your device's local file system
• Offline Access: Your data is always available offline; internet is only required for Google Drive backup and Google Sign-In

3.2 Cloud Storage (Optional)

• Google Drive Backup: When you choose to backup data, it is stored in your personal Google Drive account in a private app-specific folder (appDataFolder)
• User Control: You control when to backup and restore individual items
• Data Format: Backups are stored as JSON files with naming format: {name}{field}{itemId}_{date}_{timestamp}.json
• Privacy: Backup data remains in your personal Google Drive account and is not accessible to us

3.3 Security Measures

• Local data is stored using AsyncStorage (standard mobile storage)
• Google Drive backups are protected by your Google account security (use strong passwords and two-factor authentication)
• We do not implement custom encryption for local storage
• No data is transmitted to our servers; all processing happens locally on your device

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

4.1 Google Services

Google Sign-In:

Purpose: Optional authentication to enable cloud backup features
Data Shared: Name, email address, profile picture

Google Drive API:

Purpose: Optional cloud backup to your personal Google Drive
Permissions: Access to app-created files in your Drive's private appDataFolder

4.2 ML Kit (Google)

ML Kit Text Recognition: On-device OCR for scanning warranty documents. Processing happens locally on your device; images and extracted text are not sent to external servers. Privacy Policy

• Notifee: Local notification scheduling for warranty, service, and event reminders — Privacy Policy
• React Native Clipboard: Copy text to clipboard — on-device only
• React Native Image Picker: Uses Android Photo Picker for gallery selection (no broad media access) and camera capture — on-device only

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

5.1 We Do NOT:

• Sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties
• Use analytics or tracking services to monitor your behavior
• Share your data with advertisers or marketers
• Display advertisements in the app
• Upload your warranty, vehicle, or event data to our servers

5.2 We May Share Information:

With Your Consent: When you authorize backup to Google Drive, data is stored in your personal Google account

With Service Providers: Google ML Kit for on-device OCR processing (no external transmission); Google Drive API for optional backup functionality

Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority; to protect our rights, property, or safety

6. Permissions Required

NotifySoon requires the following permissions:

6.1 Camera Permission (android.permission.CAMERA)

• Purpose: To allow you to take photos of warranty cards, bills, and documents for scanning
• Usage: Used only when you tap "Take Photo" in the document scanner
• Data Storage: Photos are processed locally using Google ML Kit OCR and stored on your device

6.2 Photo Selection (Android Photo Picker)

• Purpose: To allow you to select existing photos from your gallery for document scanning and event images
• Usage: Used only when you tap "From Gallery" in the document scanner or add images to events
• Privacy: We use Android's system Photo Picker, which means the app does not have broad access to your photo library. You explicitly choose which specific photos to share with the app — we only receive the photos you select

6.3 Notification Permission

• Purpose: To send you local reminder notifications for warranty expiries, upcoming vehicle services, and event reminders
• Usage: Notifications are scheduled locally on your device — warranty and vehicle reminders (1, 7, 15, 20, and 30 days before expiry/service dates), event reminders (5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 days before event dates)

6.4 Internet Access

• Purpose: Only used for Google Drive integration (backup and restore features) and Google Sign-In
• Usage: Only when you explicitly use the backup, restore, or sign-in features

7. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Control

• View Your Data: All your data is stored locally on your device and accessible within the app
• Edit or Delete: You can edit or delete any warranty, vehicle, or event record at any time
• Export Data: You can backup your data to your Google Drive
• Account Deletion: You can sign out from Google Sign-In at any time; this removes cloud sync but retains local data

7.2 Permissions Control

You can control app permissions through your device settings:

Android: Settings > Apps > NotifySoon > Permissions

iOS: Settings > NotifySoon > Permissions

You can revoke these permissions, but some app features may not function properly.

7.3 Opt-Out Options

• Google Sign-In: You can use the app without signing in (skip login)
• Cloud Backup: Backup to Google Drive is entirely optional
• Notifications: You can disable push notifications in your device settings
• OCR Scanning: You can manually enter warranty information instead of using camera scanning

8. Data Retention

• Local Data: Remains on your device until you manually delete it or uninstall the app
• Google Drive Backups: Remain in your Google Drive until you delete them
• Account Data: Google Sign-In data is managed by Google's retention policies

9. Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. International Data Transfers

If you are located outside of your country and choose to use our app: your information may be transferred to and processed by Google services in various countries. Google Drive services may store data in multiple regions. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your information to these regions.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

12. Security Disclaimer

While we implement reasonable security measures: no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and Google account. Use strong passwords and enable two-factor authentication on your Google account.

13. Analytics and Tracking

We Do NOT Use: Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, Crashlytics or crash reporting tools, any advertising or tracking SDKs, cookies or similar tracking technologies. Your usage of the app is private and not monitored.
